Sr Project Manager

Job Summary

The IT Senior Project Manager is responsible for organizing, planning, and executing projects following UGI’s project management office (PMO) framework.  In this capacity, the Senior Project Manager leads teams of IT professionals, including UGI Employees, consultants and contractors, in the execution of large-scale enterprise-wide projects. Specifically, the Project Manager is responsible for establishing the project scope, timeline, and budget; for documenting success factors and identified risks and mitigation plans; for aligning needed resources; and for managing all aspects of the project through its successful completion.  The Project Manager serves as the single point of contact for the project, aligning with the business partners and within the IT Department.  The Project Manager also supports the evolution of the UGI project management framework.  

Knowledge & Skills

  • Single accountable party for leading multiple enterprise-wide IT projects, such as SAP implementations, while concurrently providing project and technical leadership. Coordinate project activities across interrelated/interdependent projects and programs.
  • Support management of UGI project portfolio, including identifying and managing project interdependencies.
  • Develop and drive standard practices within their team including, collaborating with other members of the IT Department in evolving and applying the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Act as subject matter expert and mentor junior staff.
  • Partner with Business Relationship Managers and IT Resource Managers in defining and anticipating resource needs, and provide input to IT Governance on forecasted needs.
  • Strong knowledge of project management techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex IT infrastructure and/or software development projects simultaneously within prescribed time frames, project specifications, and funding parameters.
  • Proven ability to quickly earn the confidence of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity.
  • Comprehends technical design specifications and possesses knowledge of development tools and techniques.
  • High degree of self-sufficiency, ownership, and pride of deliverables.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Working Conditions

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent discipline required.
  • Master’s degree in a Management or Technical discipline preferred.
  • Six or more years of experience managing large-scale projects in an IT or business management role, preferably SAP implementations, within a large organization.
  • ITIL Foundation certification (at hire or within 12 months in position), required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), preferred
  • Certifications in COBIT framework, preferred
  • Agile / Scrum Certification, preferred.
